being a victim
The words you never think you will say, our family became victims of a horrible crime. We were on our way to have such a happy fun-filled night after a great morning and we barely made it 4 minutes from our house.
So now where are we? Well I wish I started this blog sooner for everyone to stay up to date, but here we are. We attended Monmouth County Court for our case last on Sept. 3rd. The woman who hit us and killed our daughter is still being detained and attends every court date we have.
This day was a short follow up on briefs and check-in on standings. Lucas came with me for his very first time, our victims representatives are always there for support, the detective, Uncle Larry, attorney representation, as well as our prosecutor. I am thankful to have this supportive group each time we are there.
Lucas was a champion as he waited for over an hour after our set time in the lobby. After we walked into the court room, the defendant Samantha Bonora sat across the court handcuffed as usual. The judge entered the courtroom and it was shared the defense requested more time to file their briefs. They were supposed to file by yesterday, September 15th.
Our next date in court which is open to the public is October 15th for legal arguments.
